Tom Minor’s latest single is an honest shot of energy for anyone who’s had enough of standing still and the London artist puts together vintage soul and indie rock into something that actually sounds urgent and real.

Minor keeps chanting “I’m gonna change it” without ever defining what needs changing, and that vagueness is the whole point. He admits straight up he gets confused every day but he’s doing it anyway. When he throws in a line about suburban redevelopment programmes and needing a new paradigm, it sounds both ridiculous and exactly right. Sometimes you just need to blow everything up and start over, even if you can’t explain why.

Johnny Dalston handles guitar duties and brings real bite to the arrangement. Producer Teaboy Palmer (aka The Basher of Belsize Park, which is a fantastic nickname) keeps everything raw enough to feel alive. This is a preview of Minor’s upcoming album Ten New Toe-Tappers for Shoplifting & Self-Mutilation, and if this track is any indication, that record will be worth your time.

Minor manages to sound both desperate and hopeful, which is a difficult balance to pull off. Good stuff from an artist who clearly knows how to write a hook. You absolutely need to follow Tom Minor on social media down below to keep up with his next moves.
