Sugar Scars are back with their sophomore album, and it’s honestly a blast to experience. “Dark Spark – White Light” refuses to stay in one lane, which is exactly why it works so well, and you won’t be able to neatly label these songs, and honestly, that’s the whole point. The band sounds genuinely excited to explore different sonic territories and you can hear that energy running through every single track.
The journey kicks off with the hypnotic single “Dark Charm”, which immediately hooks you with its addictive pull. From there, the album plays out like your favorite playlist, the kind you save for moments when you really want to feel something. Eleven tracks of pure inventiveness that keep you engaged from start to finish. There’s never a moment where you’re just passively listening; the duo of multi-instrumentalists from El Paso and Juarez are constantly surprising you with unexpected turns and eccentric touches. What really gets me about this record is how honest it feels. It’s about finding light in darkness and making peace with that contradiction. Sugar Scars has clearly grown since their acclaimed debut “Rhythmic Body Reflexes,” and this album proves they’re only getting better at what they do.Follow Sugar Scars: Instagram – YouTube – Spotify
