Lee Switzer-Woolf has been quietly building something worth paying attention to. Two albums in, a vinyl double A-side behind him, and now this, a new single that takes a pretty sharp left turn from where you might expect him to go next.

“I Might Be An Alien” is gloomy in the best possible way. The guitars are sparse and a little unsettling, the electronic elements wrap around them without taking over, and the whole thing has this low-level dread running through it that is hard to shake after the first listen.

The song circles around something most people know well but rarely put into words, that weird, hollow feeling of being totally fine on the surface while also feeling oddly detached from your own day-to-day life. Lee just lets it sit there, which is exactly the right call. If this is a preview of where his next full release is heading, things are looking pretty good. New material is apparently already in progress, and this single makes a strong case for keeping a close eye on what he does next.
