This album feels like sitting down with someone who’s been real with you about their struggles. Kane doesn’t sugar-coat anything, he just puts it out there, and you either get it or you don’t. Turns out, most people will.

The best part? Somehow he’s managed to make songs about heartbreak and anxiety that actually make you want to dance. “Ratbag Joy” is the perfect example, it’s about escaping through nightlife and numb feelings, but the beat pulls you in anyway. You can’t help but move. “Bite the Bullet” is the complete opposite: stripped down, no frills, just pure grief. That contrast keeps you on your toes throughout the whole record.

“Heads Are Round” is clever without being annoying. It takes a Francis Picabia quote about how our minds can shift direction and turns it into something you’ll have stuck in your head for days. Meanwhile, “Push the Fear Out” tackles prejudice head-on but wraps it in this joyful energy that makes the message land harder.

What really got me was realizing Kane spent nearly a decade away from music before making this. You can feel the hunger on every track. The production is tight, the writing is sharp, and nothing here feels like filler.
