Okay, so I’ll be upfront. I did not expect this one to grab me as quickly as it did. “Spin” by The Trusted is one of those tracks that pulls you in within the first ten seconds and does not let go until that abrupt ending cuts everything dead. And even then, you hit play again.
The Southend four-piece have a real knack for writing guitar pop that actually has something to say. The choppy rhythms and jangly guitars give the track a raw, wired energy, but the whole thing stays remarkably tight. Nothing here is accidental. Every element earns its place. It sounds like someone genuinely working through a feeling in real time, which is what separates a good pop song from a great one. The chorus is the kind that gets stuck in your head on the way to work.
These guys have played over 300 shows, toured Italy twice, and landed sessions on BBC Radio 2. That road time shows in how confident and precise this all sounds.
