Caitty’s debut single is one of those tracks that sneaks up on you. It starts quietly, the kind of song you half-listen to, and then somewhere around the second verse you realize you’ve been paying full attention for two minutes already.
The production is polished but not overdone. Co-produced with Yoga Ramadhan, it sits in this cinematic space where country and pop blur together in a way that actually makes sense rather than feeling forced and Nic Rollo’s mix gives it a lot of room to breathe, and the result is something that could sit comfortably on a road trip playlist or a late-night bedroom session.
Caitty is writing about trying to fit a version of yourself to someone else’s expectations and slowly losing track of who you actually are. It’s not a new theme, but she handles it with enough specificity that it doesn’t feel recycled. There’s a realness to the delivery that’s hard to fake.
The timing on the album announcement is also a nice touch. Slow Like Summer drops June 20, the summer solstice, which lines up well with the warm, reflective mood she’s going for.
If this single is where Caitty’s starting, the rest of the record could be genuinely something to look forward to. Keep an eye (and ear) on her, and go give her a follow on Instagram while you’re at it.
