I came across Victims of the New Math a few weeks ago, and their latest album, The Stories That You Weave, has been glued to my turntable ever since. There is a raw, basement-tape quality to the production that hits right if you miss late-nineties indie rock, and the opening track hooks you immediately with a fuzzy bassline and quirky synth layers. It feels nostalgic but completely fresh.

Every track plays out like a short film about messy relationships, late nights, and the weird anxieties of modern life, and songs like “Time Flies” can stick in your head from the first listen. The record feels cohesive but never gets repetitive. Each melody has a distinct personality, and the rhythm section holds everything down beautifully. It is a genuine, rough-around-the-edges project that reminds me why I fell in love with indie music. You can tell they poured their actual lives into these tracks.

If you need excellent new tunes for your daily rotation, do yourself a favor and give this one a spin. Make sure to head over to Instagram and follow them for updates.
