I keep coming back to the new single from Sotto James, and I think it is a standout indie track. The song is called “Talisman” and it does this clever trick where it sounds like a bright, easygoing summer jam on the first listen. The guitar work has a warm, driving feel, and the melody grabs you right away.

When you actually pay attention to the lyrics, you realize there is a tired, heavy feeling underneath all that energy. Sotto James sings about being completely exhausted and just pretending everything is fine. There is a line where he says he is getting good at holding on with one hand, which is a great way to describe that feeling of barely keeping things together.

I love how the track handles that tension. He repeats the line “You can have anything you want” like he is giving up and letting the illusion take over. It feels incredibly real, like someone laughing off a disaster because they do not have the energy to fight it. It is a great song that is going to stay in my rotation for a long time.
