Elena C. Lockleis wrote this song during some of her lowest moments, when she really needed to hear those exact words. Taking cues from Anne-Marie’s “Better Not Together”, she’s going for that same kind of vibe but making it completely her own thing.
The team behind this track came together naturally. Elena connected with producer Jon Worthy through Airgigs a few years back, and vocalist Jessica Ruth Bell is someone she met in person and considers a friend now. Elena has a unique approach – instead of singing her own songs, she writes them for other vocalists to bring to life. She admits there are times she’d like to be her own vocalist, but then realizes how cool it is to hear her songs through talented voices like Jessica’s.
Recorded at Apex Arts Studios in North Hollywood, a place Elena keeps returning to because she loves the creative energy there. The track is personal, straightforward, and connects with anyone who’s been in that headspace.
