The BC folk duo is back after eight years, and “Gambler” feels like catching up with old friends who’ve been through some stuff. The song is about the uncomfortable truth that relationships are basically one big bet where nobody knows the outcome.

Recording this live at Vancouver’s Warehouse Studio was a smart move. The band walked in cold, never having heard these songs before, so everything you hear happened in real time. That raw energy comes through loud and clear. Jill Barber jumps in with backing vocals that complement rather than compete, giving the track breathing room.

Steve Dawson handled production duties, and he clearly understood the assignment. The sound captures that vulnerable headspace where you’re admitting things you’d rather keep buried. Jeremy and Sheree’s voices weave together like two people having an actual conversation about hard topics. “Gambler” is wonderful, and it’s the lead single from their upcoming album “Back Burner”, and if this track is any indication, they’ve got plenty more real talk coming.

You should definitely follow The Eisenhauers on Instagram to catch their tour announcements and get a peek behind the curtain as they continue balancing marriage and music.
