Montana-based synth-pop collective Gilda House transforms Sam Sparro’s beloved 2008 hit “Black and Gold” into something really incredible. The Billings quartet, comprising Meg Gildehaus on vocals and bass synth, Tony Morales on guitar and keys, Nick Miles on drums, and Sean Lynch on production, delivers an ethereal interpretation that pulses with atmospheric tension.
The band’s approach to this cover reflects their stated mission of honoring unity in divisive times, for me, this release is unique because it seamlessly blends Gildehaus’s compelling vocals with the band’s signature big synth sound, creating something that feels both nostalgic and refreshingly contemporary. I’m sure you will play the track again and again.
As they work toward completing their debut full-length album, “Black and Gold” serves as an excellent showcase of Gilda House’s evolving sound and artistic vision and I can’t wait to hear the album.
