“Wake Up Mr. Kupferberg” feels like Jakob The Liar cracking open the door on everything he’s lived through, and he’s not filtering any of it.
The production is good and tracks like “Paradigm $H!T” punch hard with political urgency, while “Sunchild” and “A Song Like You” lean into more emotional territory, letting vulnerability sit right next to rage. Jakob doesn’t try to tie things up neatly. He’s working through it in real time, and you feel that.
There’s a restlessness in this EP that works in its favor. It doesn’t sound polished or processed. It sounds lived-in. It’s an artist stepping into a larger story, one that’s clearly still unfolding. If “Wake Up Mr. Kupferberg” resonates the way it did for me, keep an eye on Jakob The Liar. There’s more coming, and it’s not going to play it safe.
