Joe Hodgson’s latest release, “You I Think Of”, is one of the best songs I’ve heard this week. Known for his expressive guitar work, Joe collaborates here with the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, and the result is a restrained yet richly layered piece that prioritizes feeling over flash.
The guitar takes the lead, but it never overshadows the strings. It works with them. Hodgson’s phrasing is thoughtful and fluid, with every note seeming to carry intention. The influence of Irish folk is faint but present, especially in the way the melody subtly echoes traditional forms without directly quoting them.
If this track hits you like it did me, give Joe Hodgson a follow. You’ll want to hear what’s next.
