Munk Duane is wrapping up his five-year run with “Falsify”, and damn, he’s going out swinging. The Boston artist has been mixing retro soul with indie-pop since 2020, and this farewell track shows he’s got the sound locked down tight.

Right off the bat, you hear those chunky ’80s synths and that unmistakable LinnDrum sound Prince made famous. But Munk Duane isn’t just copying homework here, he’s taking those bright, flashy textures and dragging them through today’s political grime. The result is way more interesting than your typical throwback track.

His vocals have real venom on this one, you can tell he’s pissed off about how fake everything feels right now, but he delivers it with actual skill instead of just yelling into the void. The guy produced this himself too, which makes sense because everything sits exactly where it needs to. Brian Lucey handled the mastering, and you can hear why he works with the big names. The track punches hard but still has room to breathe.
