Ottawa duo Wotts’s “i’ll see you when the game resets” is what you need today. Jayem’s voice has this worn-in quality, like your favorite hoodie that’s seen better days but still feels right.
The guitars are messy in all the best ways. Ricky 100 clearly wasn’t going for perfection here, and that’s exactly why it works. You can hear echoes of The Strokes and Pavement, but Wotts aren’t copying homework – they’re just wearing their influences openly.
This song sits at the end of an EP about losing things, but it doesn’t sound defeated. Instead, it feels like that moment when you realize maybe goodbyes aren’t as final as they seem. The whole thing has this scrappy energy that makes you want to play it again immediately.
“FLANK!” EP deals with heavy stuff, but this final track manages to be both sad and oddly comforting. It’s rough around the edges and proud of it, which somehow makes the whole thing more genuine than if they’d polished it to death.
