Okay, I’ll be honest, I wasn’t expecting this one to hit me the way it did. Blake Madison’s new single “Wait My Dear” showed up in my rotation this week and I kept going back to it more than I planned to.
The song has this unhurried, almost suspended quality to it. It doesn’t rush to get anywhere, and that patience actually works in its favor. Blake Madison’s voice carries a lot of weight here, not in a showy way, just in the way that good singers make you feel like they actually mean what they’re saying. There’s a classical precision to her delivery that comes through clearly, but it never feels stiff.
What gets me is how the arrangement stays pretty minimal and still holds your attention the whole way through. The production gives her vocals a lot of room, and she uses it well. Some singers would overcrowd that kind of space. She doesn’t. This is apparently the lead up to a full debut project coming in 2027, and if this single is any indication, that’s a release worth keeping an eye on. I’m genuinely curious where she takes things from here.
If you’re a fan of artists who take their time and actually have something to say, give this one a proper listen. And if you like what you hear, follow Blake on Instagram so you don’t miss what’s coming next.
