A.E.R.O. Flynn dropped “Dark Ego” on June 19th and it’s been on repeat since. The Harrisburg rapper has been building quietly under Epic Glyph Records, and this one feels like a real step forward.
The production is the first thing that grabs you. Heavy bass, these slow-burning synth layers that sit just right in the mix. It’s got weight to it. The kind of beat that sounds good loud, in the car, at night. Flynn’s delivery matches the mood too. He’s not rushing anything. There’s a controlled tension in how he rides the track, like he’s saving something.
The song digs into the internal tug-of-war between who you are now and who you’re grinding to become. Flynn said himself that it’s about “the version of yourself that grows in the dark”, and you feel that in the writing. It’s personal but not navel-gazing. The hunger in it is real.
If you’re already into acts like JID or the more atmospheric side of hip-hop, Flynn fits right in that lane. He’s got a storyteller’s instinct and doesn’t lean on shock value to make a point. The introspective angle is clearly where he does his best work.
“Dark Ego” is out now on all major streaming platforms. Go give it a spin and follow Flynn on Instagram so you don’t miss what’s coming next.
