Matt C. White cranked out “A Cosmic Year” after two years of tinkering, and the Brooklyn musician created something genuinely weird and heavy. Matt played everything himself: guitars, bass, drums, vocals, probably the kitchen sink too, he is a talented artist. “Blood Divine” and “I Gotta Get Out’ are standout that needs your attention.
Coming from North Carolina blues roots, Matt moved to Brooklyn and got mixed up with bands like Certain Death and 95 Bulls. His solo work lets him go completely nuts with the genre-hopping. One track sounds like stoner doom, the next could be psych rock, then there’s ambient passages that give your ears a break before the next assault.
You should definitely give this a spin if you like your rock music strange and loud, and make sure to follow Matt on Instagram @Matt_C_White where he posts studio updates, gear shots, and other cool stuff that gives you a real look into how he builds these massive sonic landscapes.
