Deflecting Ghosts delivers a powerhouse of raw emotion with their latest single “Broken”, marking their first full-band release since the Kansas trio expanded to include Luke Fitzgerald’s wife Rhema on bass and drummer Austin.
“Broken” showcases the band’s ability to balance vulnerability with brute force. Heavy, scorching guitar riffs crash against a bold bass foundation while Austin’s precise drumming provides the dynamic backbone that drives the track forward. What makes this song exciting is how the instrumentation mirrors the emotional weight of the lyrics, the music feels like controlled chaos, perfectly capturing that moment when everything falls apart before it can be rebuilt.
The production quality deserves recognition, with Adrian Breakspear’s mixing and Maor Appelbaum’s mastering creating a sound that hits with landslide-like impact while preserving the haunting vulnerability beneath the surface.
For me, “Broken” is an exceptional piece of modern alternative metal that proves rock music can still carry profound emotional weight when created with genuine purpose. Want to stay updated about new releases in the rest of 2025? Follow the band on Facebook.
