Mohawk Castle’s latest “Die for Love”, is wonderful. Created entirely in his Long Beach living room during 2023 and 2024, this trap-indie-art-rock fusion emerges from a place of profound introspection. The album draws its emotional weight from his father’s cancer battle and his decision to start a family, and it’s one of those albums where you find yourself jumping from one track to the next. And my favorite is “Cold Beat”.
The musical influences are unmistakable yet seamlessly woven together – echoes of Jim Morrison’s mysticism, Lou Reed’s urban poetry, and Nick Cave’s dark romanticism permeate the tracks.
