Nick Byrne and Tom Symmonds team up for “Solstice Sun”, using seasonal changes as a backdrop for exploring emotional ups and downs. I’m just in love with this song.
The track starts with synth bass and drum samples before moving into autumn’s quieter moments. Nick’s vocals come in during these reflective sections, and his fingerpicked charango technique gives the chorus a harp-like sound that stands out. The Chilean instrument is an unusual choice that pays off. Jake Robbins handled the production well, keeping things clear without losing the warmth. Sophia from Tugboat Captain adds violin that really elevates the final section, working alongside the dual vocals to create a strong finish. Just beautiful.
This collaboration between Byrne and Symmonds shows both artists playing to their strengths while creating something that feels cohesive. The track manages to be both personal and universal in its approach to seasonal and emotional change. Worth checking out Nick Byrne’s other work and following along for future releases.
