Morten Alsinger’s debut as TRALALAS is a proper return to form for someone who’s been kicking around Denmark’s underground for years. “Ornament” gives you nine tracks of dark pop that actually earn the label: this is moody stuff, but it’s got backbone. The singles “Winter on the Vine” and “Burns” are strong entry points, but the album as a whole shows an artist who’s figured out exactly what he wants to say.
The lineup here matters. Heidi Lindahl’s vocals add depth without overdoing it, Thomas Golsen handles bass and guitar with precision, and Francis Nørgaard Jensen’s drumming keeps everything grounded. Producer Thomas Li clearly understood the assignment; these songs breathe naturally, nothing sounds forced or overcooked.
Morten writes about loss and gain, existential stuff that could easily become pretentious, but he keeps it honest. The analog approach works because it serves the songs rather than becoming the whole story. This is a debut that knows what it is, and that clarity makes all the difference.
