You Me & Kyle’s first album titled “They Promised Us There Would Be Flying Cars” is a unique indie rock album. Produced by Tony Sharpe and Henry Hutton, two musicians who met at a Star Trek convention, the album is as raw as DIY music can be, but it is also as polished as one can expect from musicians with years of experience under their belt. Both of these “geeks with guitars” recorded the entire album in their home studios, passing files back and forth through iCloud and creating an album that is bright, intelligent, and alive.
The one thing that makes this album different is the energy. Despite the fact that Sharpe and Hutton are both in their sixties, there is no feeling of staleness in the music. However, it is creative, witty, and cheeky in the best sense of those terms at the right moments. I liked how this album is free from any commercial influence, and it is a perfect example of how musicians can be creative when they are not influenced by the need for money.
This is a clear indication that creativity has no bounds when it comes to the age of the artist. Want to hear more? Check out You Me & Kyle on Facebook and Instagram.
