Okay so I wasn’t expecting to be this into a song by a band whose members are still dealing with homework, but here we are. “Your Perfect” by LA trio LED is a pop punk single about that specific, awful feeling of being compared to someone and losing. Not a general breakup song. Not vague sadness. It’s about the version of rejection that comes with a side of “she’s everything you’re not.”

Edie Yvonne plays bass and sings, Layne Olivia plays guitar and sings, and when the two of them harmonize it genuinely catches you off guard. Their individual voices don’t sound like they should work together on paper, and that contrast is exactly what makes it interesting. Lockett Pentz on drums keeps the energy locked in throughout, and the rhythm section as a whole gives the song more backbone than you’d expect from a debut single.

What works here is the specificity. The lyrics pull from real high school experiences, and you can tell. There’s no attempt to make it bigger or more universal than it needs to be. The song is small in scope and that’s a strength, not a flaw. It trusts the listener to connect the dots.

They’ve already played the Whisky a Go Go and opened for Diplo. The debut EP is coming and this single is a solid reason to pay attention now. Go follow them on Instagram, seriously.
