I picked up the new track from San Francisco creator Michellar this week, and it has a really nice groove. Titled “Cant get you out of my mind”, the track bridges classic late-sixties psych rock with modern indie bedroom production. She teamed up with Nashville producer Michael Beckheart for this project, cutting her vocals on the West Coast before heading out to Tennessee to polish up the final mix.
The track grows on you after two or three listens and you get those subtle nods to groups like Led Zeppelin and The Doors in the guitar textures, but the beat keeps everything grounded in a fresh way. She mentioned writing the lyrics to work through repetitive, sticky thoughts that wouldn’t clear out of her head, and you can hear that quiet, reflective honesty in her delivery. Her vocal track feels intimate and steady, blending right into the easygoing mid-tempo rhythms.
