Every once in a while, a release comes along that feels like finding an old treasure, and C’batch’s new six-track EP is a great example. The story behind this music goes back about 26 years. His wife Yvette, who is from Jamaica, originally asked him to write a reggae song. He tried back then, but the track stayed unfinished for a really long time. Still, he never forgot the main tune, and he finally finished writing the lyrics and melody.
This project honors Ernest Ranglin, a famous Jamaican guitarist C’batch met at an airport back in 2001. That short meeting made a big impression on him. Put out by Stevette Music, the EP is part of his 2026 “Year of the Vault” project, where he is sharing old music he never finished.
The EP features six different versions of the main song, showing it off from a few fun angles. Every version feels fresh and easy to enjoy. The guitar playing sounds smooth, and the bright reggae beat keeps things moving. You can tell he put a lot of heart into making every track sound warm and fun.
