La Need Machine’s album “Pourquoi? C’est L’Amour!” brings together the spirit of protest-pop and the soulfulness of alt-country.

This 12-track record was made in Seattle and has a rough, analog feel that gives it a lot of heart and energy. “Black Friday” and “Change It” highlight the band’s political side, but “Go North” and “Love’s a Waste of Time” are more about personal feelings. The band’s dual vocalists, Davin Michael Stedman and Adra Boo, create a compelling dynamic that grounds each track with depth and emotion.

I love how La Need Machine weaves tough messages with emotional songwriting. I liked this album because its honesty and unpolished production make it feel very authentic. The album’s unique sound comes from Seattle’s musical diversity, which is clear throughout the record.
