Mary Simone’s “Scared To Be Lonely” is a new take on a well-trodden theme, a combination of vulnerability and sonic finesse. The track recorded at New York’s legendary Power Station discards its original Pop/EDM roots for an Americana twist and displays Simone’s versatility. Her soulful vocals float above producer Stephen Webber’s warm acoustic-driven arrangement, building a haunting but comforting ambiance. The production, which is masterfully crafted by Gloria Kaba and mixed by Ian Kagey, has a nice balance of rawness and polish, making it one of the highlights of her increasing discography.
I really love how this version strips back the electronic elements to reveal the emotional heart of the song—it feels intimate and timeless. Drawing from Dua Lipa’s emotional delivery and Martin Garrix’s melodic instinct, Simone composes a ballad that lingers long after the last note. The lyrics which deal with the fear of loneliness after a heartbreak touch the audience on a personal level, proving her ability to connect with the listeners.
Just one song remains to complete her EP and Mary Simone is definitely an artist to watch. Want to be updated about new releases for the rest of 2025? Follow the artist on Facebook and Instagram for the latest updates!
