Hoxsey teamed up with Peppermilk for an 11-track project called Ghost We Keep and I’ve had it on heavy rotation all week. The whole thing feels like walking through a creepy, abandoned carnival late at night, mixing alternative rock, punk energy, and dark gothic sounds.
What really hooked me is how the album balances wild story tracks with actual heart. Out-there songs like “The Introduction of Sgt. Capone” and “A Ride With the Four Horse Men in 1888” build this weird circus world full of strange characters and tracks like “The Road” and “Josaphina” that pull back the theatrical stuff to talk about memory and the personal baggage people drag around every day.
The production sits in a great spot between old-school nostalgia and fresh indie ideas. Calling it just a Halloween record misses the point, mostly because these songs work in any season. Tracks like “Skeleton Key” and “Corpses Ball Room” show off an artist having fun with weird concept ideas while keeping every melody catchy.
