Sofie Elezaj’s “Fly” caught me off guard in the best way and I love what she does. I wasn’t expecting much from another pop song about overcoming struggles, but this Swedish artist actually pulled it off without making me cringe.

The song starts quiet and builds into something bigger, which sounds obvious but Sofie does it right. Her voice carries real weight when she hits the chorus, and you can tell she’s been through some stuff. The production from Roth at Handle Studios gives her room to breathe without drowning her in unnecessary bells and whistles.

I appreciate that Sofie doesn’t pretend everything’s sunshine and rainbows. She admits things suck sometimes, which makes the uplifting parts actually mean something. Too many artists skip straight to the inspiration without acknowledging why we need it in the first place.
